France - SMART

On Wednesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) said that about 500 people from the city of Douma in Eastern Ghouta went to the medical facilities "with signs and symptoms consistent with exposure to toxic chemicals."

In a statement from Geneva, the Deputy Director-General of the Organization for Emergency Response, Peter Salameh, condemned the chemical attack on Douma in Eastern Ghouta. He also "called for immediate and unhindered access to the area" to assess the health impacts and provide a comprehensive response to public health requirements.

Last Saturday, the Syrian government forces committed a chemical massacre in the city of Douma, killing and wounding hundreds of civilians. Most international parties condemned the massacre, and some promised to respond to it.

On Tuesday, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) said that they would soon send a fact-finding mission to the city of Douma.
