Hama - SMART

On Thursday, the Syrian government forces clashed with factions of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), killing eight members of the government forces, near the village of Qubat al- Kurdi, 20 kilometers southeast of Hama, Central Syria.

The Fourth Corps in the National Army of the FSA reported that the clashes broke out after government forces tried to advance in their positions, which they recently captured.

Military sources from the FSA told SMART that the clashes killed eight members and injured others of the government forces. Another FSA fighter was also killed and another wounded.

The clashes coincided with artillery shelling from Syrian government forces stationed near the scientific research center in Jabal Tqsis in the neighboring villages, in return for similar bombardment from the FSA factions on the source of the fire.

On Tuesday, the FSA and Islamist battalions began a battle against the government forces in the village of Quba Kurdi. A military source said that they broke the defense lines and gained control of two checkpoints near the village.
