Idlib - SMART

New Turkish reinforcements arrived in the area of Sawamee al-Sarman near the city of Jerjenaz (36 km south of Idlib) in Northern Syria, as part of the deployment of Turkish troops, which is included in the eased escalation agreement.

Local activists told SMART that the convoy consisted of five vehicles carrying various materials, entered so as to enable the observation point previously established in the area of Sawamee al-Saraman.

On Feb. 15, the Turkish army established the observation base in the Sawamee al-Saraman area after Turkey announced the deployment of its troops and the formation of bases included in the implementation of the eased escalation agreement (which is agreed upon at the Astana 6 talks).

Earlier this month, a Turkish military delegation visited the city of Khan Sheikhoun, Southern Idlib, and the main sites of the northern governorate of Hama, to study the area before the establishment of observation bases.
