Deir ez-Zor - SMART

Two civilians were killed in the Syrian Democratic Forces' shelling (SDF) of the Eastern Deir ez-Zor governorate, Eastern Syria.

On Thursday, the Syrian Human Rights Network reported that a woman and a man were killed as a result of an SDF rocket attack on the village of al-Soussa, which is controlled by the Islamic State in the area of Abu Kamal (130 km east of Deir ez-Zor).

Activists confirmed civilian casualties. At the same time, they noted that the source of the bombing was SDF missiles in the al-Omer oil field.

Militants documented 161 deaths from Islamic State, loyalist, and SDF landmines between 2017 and 2018.

In recent months, battles have taken place in Deir ez-Zor between the SDF and the Islamic State. Other battles have occurred between the Islamic State, the loyalist forces and their militias, resulting in the killing and injuring of civilians. Most of the victims are civilians.
