Al Raqah - SMART

On Saturday, Kurdish People's Protection Units (PYD) delivered the bodies of loyalist forces, who were killed during the battles with the Islamic State in al-Tabqah military airport, Western Al Raqah, Northern Syria, in August 2014.

A source of the Kurdish Red Crescent said in special statement to SMART that three vehicles of the Kurdish Red Crescent, escorted by two vehicles of the intelligence service of the PYD, headed to the loyalist-controlled village of Al Wawi near the Al Tabqah military airport to help pulling out bodies of loyalist forces.

The source, who preferred not to mention his name, added the Red Crescent managed to pull out about 50 bodies from the perimeter of the airport at 9:00 am on Saturday. The bodies were transported to the military hospital of Aleppo city. The source also said that the Red Crescent will start a new operation next Sunday to pull out the rest of the bodies who were executed by ISIS.

Earlier on Aug. 28, 2014, ISIS has broadcasted a video that showed dozens of killed almost-naked loyalist forces. Activists said that ISIS captured the fighters after clashes in  Al Tabqah airport. ISIS seized the military airport on Aug. 24, 2014, after clashes that killed about 300 fighters of the loyalist forces and about 346 ISIS elements.
