Idlib - SMART

On Tuesday, Syrian government airstrikes killed and injured 11 civilians in the village of Maarrat Harma, 27 kilometers south of Idlib, Northern Syria.

Government helicopters dropped six naval mines on residential neighborhoods in the village, killing four civilians, including a woman and a child, and injuring seven civilians, some severely. The Civil Defense transported the injured to a nearby hospital.

Similar bombings hit the town of al-Tamani'a in Southern Idlib, and suspected Syrian government warplanes bombed the village of Tal'as. Government artillery forces shelled the village of al-Habit. Activists reported no casualties of the bombings.

On Apr. 18, 2018, suspected Russian warplanes bombed the city of Kafr Nubl (35 kilometers south of Idlib), killing a civilian and injuring three others.

The bombings are part of the Syrian government forces' military escalation in the cities and towns of Idlib, which have killed and injured hundreds of civilians and destroyed much of the governorate's infrastructure.
