Aleppo - SMART

On Wednesday, the fourth and last group of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from eastern Qalamoun, northeast Damascus, entered the city of al-Bab, 39 kilometers east of Aleppo, Northern Syria.

The response coordinators in Northern Syrian said that the convoy consisted of 48 buses carrying 1,785 IDPs, including 5 emergency cases, two critical and three childbirth.

The response coordinators said that the convoy also included eight civilian cars and two ambulances. Local activists told SMART that the convoy entered al-Bab after reaching the Abu Zindeen crossing. The convoy will continue to a refugee camp in Jindayris town, west of Afrin.

Three groups of IDPs from eastern Qalamoun have been dispatched. The first settled north of Aleppo. The second was transferred to Sa'ad camp in the village of Maarrat al-Ikhwan, Northern Idlib. The third group headed to Jindayris.

The three groups of IDPs were displaced from eastern Qalamoun after an agreement reached between the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Russia. The agreement includes the deployment of Russian police at the entrances of al-Rahaiba city and Jeroud, in order to ensure that the Syrian government forces do not enter the towns, and the sustaining of IDP properties without confiscation.
