Turkey - SMART

Abd al Rahman Mustafa, the President of the Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces, said that holding the war criminals accountable will pave the way for a political transition, according to Geneva Statement 1, and the U.N. resolution 2254.

Mustafa added in a statement that to hold the criminals accountable to stop the war crimes committed by the Syrian government, Russia and the Iranian militias is the key to a solution in Syria.

Mustafa called upon the International Community to “leave the door opened” to launch new military attacks on the government and Iranian Militia military bases, and to prevent them from committing war crimes.

Mustafa pointed out that the National Coalition is committed to a positive approach with the U.N. and its envoy to Syria, Staffan De Mistura to discuss all issues, especially the political transition.

Earlier today, three prominent coalition members announced their resignation. The members resigned because the coalition is not committing to the revolution’s principles, and the current political track is similar to the Russian, which rebuilds the Assad’s government.

The government displaced civilians and militants from Eastern Ghouta and Eastern Qalamoun after the chemical massacre in Douma, in which 85 people were killed, and more than 1,200 suffocation cases were recorded.
