Traffic accident kills and injures 27 passengers on way to Raqqa

On Thursday, a bus transporting passengers to the city of Raqqa in Northeastern Syria had a traffic accident, killing six civilians and injuring 21 others.  

A medical source of the Kurdish Red Crescent reported that six civilians died and 21 others got injured following a traffic accident of a bus near on a major road near the village of Dibsi Faraj in Western Raqqa. The source noted that the bus came from Tartus governorate.

The source added that the accident occurred in areas controlled by government forces in Western Raqqa, which are near areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces(SDF). The source noted that a civilian from the village of al-Rasheed and a woman and her son from the city of Ma’adan in Raqqa were among the deaths.

The source said that the six bodies and the injured were transported to the national hospital of the city of al-Tabaqa controlled by the SDF. Other injured were transported to hospitals in Aleppo.

In recent weeks, Internally displaced families left camps and areas controlled by government forces for the city of Raqqa and its surroundings. The families returned to check their homes following the SDF gaining control over most of Raqqa governorate after clashes with the Islamic State. Activists documented killing hundreds of civilians due to landmines’ explosions.
