Idlib - SMART

On Monday, a military source from the Syrian Liberation Front told SMART that dozens of Islamic State (ISIS) members escaped from the it's prison in the city of Binnish near Idlib, Northern Syria.

The Syrian Liberation Front is an opposition group formed by the two Sunni Islamist groups Ahrar al-Sham and the Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement. HTS is the main rival of the Syrian Liberation Front in Northwestern Syria.

The source, who asked not to be named for security reasons, said that last Tuesday, 35 ISIS members escaped from the prison through a vent. The source confirmed that the Liberation Front rearrested seven of them.

The source revealed that the prisoners had earlier coordinated with people from outside the prison, as the Liberation Front killed a person who was trying to transfer weapons to fleeing prisoners.

The source stated that the remaining 28 prisoners fled towards the town of Sarmin controlled by the Jund al-Aqsa faction. The faction supports ISIS.

They explained that the escaped prisoners are ISIS members who surrendered at the Dahr al-Bughat faction's operations room in the village of Khoein, southeast of Idlib, months ago.

The operations room factions captured about 400 ISIS members, after they had surrendered their own medium weapons.

Two days ago, an explosion targeted a prison belonging to the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in the city of Idlib. The HTS said that ISIS the responsible of the explosion in order to smuggle its members out of the prison.
