Daraa -SMART

On Sunday, the artist, Farid Abu Rajab, painted a mural in the city of Nawa, 25 kilometers north of Daraa, Southern Syria, in honor of the journalist, Ibrahim al-Monajjer.

Abu Rajab reported that al-Monajjer interviewed him three days before he was killed. Abu Rajab said that he was surprised when he found out about the killing on social media, before the report was published, and that he painted this mural in honor of him.

Abu Rajab said that he worked as graffiti, character and mural painter.

Last Thursday, unknown persons shot al-Monajjer in front of his house in the town of Saida, and he was buried in the city of Tal Shihab where he was born.

Al- Monajjer worked as a reporter for the SMART news agency and the Hawa SMART radio between the years 2014 and 2017, and also worked as a reporter for the Sham News Network in Daraa, preparing video reports for several news agencies and Arabic and international news channels.

Al- Monajjer also worked as a war photographer in most of the battles between the loyalist forces and the Free Syrian Army in Daraa, in addition to documenting hundreds of raids and bombings by the loyalist forces.

Earlier, the Syrian Network for Human Rights has documented the killing of 29 media officers in Syria since the beginning of this year, until last April, whereas 638 media officers have been killed since the start of the Syrian Revolution in March 2011, most of them by the loyalist forces.
