The Turkish intelligence dismissed a troop affiliated with the second brigade of the National Syrian Army, after receiving corruption files.

The Military Spokesperson of the 23rd division, Colonel Abu Ahmad al-Taksh, said that the dismissed troop is affiliated with the division, and that the Turkish Intelligence dismissed it after receiving files and documents proving the troop’s corruption.

Al-Taqsh added that the documents show the troop in question alongside another troop called the al-Hayyani, have connections with the Kurdish People’s Protection Units. The troops also have been smuggling ammunition and weapons to the Islamic State controlled areas.

Anas Mariamin, the Head of the 23rd Division Political Office, denied the dismissal of a National Army troop after the corruption accusations.

At the end of 2017, the Syrian Interim Government formed the Syrian National Army. The army includes all factions of the Free Syrian Army operating in Northern Aleppo, and is supported by Turkey. Other factions operating in Central Syria joined the army later.
