Local activists said that the Russian military police prevented the government forces and the supporting militia from evacuating Islamic State fighters’ families from the town of Yilda, Southern Damascus.

Journalist Matar Ismail, recently displaced from Southern Damascus, said on his Facebook page that the Russian forces deployed in a location in Yilda. Two buses, accompanied by a vehicle carrying fighters and heavy machine gun entered the site to evacuate the IS families.

Ismail added that the Russian fighters almost clashed with the government fighters, under the tension and exchanging insults. The government fighters withdrew from the town on Tuesday, without moving any person. Ismail pointed out that the government intended to evacuate ISIS fighters families that are probably second or third-degree relatives.

Weeks ago, the High negotiation committee and Russia decided on the displacement agreement, under Russian Military Police guarantees. The deal includes protecting the towns and forming a loyalist militia of men from Yilda, Bibila, and Beit Sahm, under the name Committees. The agreement also prevents the government forces from entering the area.
