Turkey - SMART

On Wednesday, the leader of the military council of the Sunnah Forces of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), Naseem Abu Ara, said that Russia is seeking to create a strife in Southern Syria, similar to what is happening in Idlib, Northern Syria.

Earlier today, officials from the Russian Hmeimim air base reported that the end of the eased escalation agreement in the city of Daraa would be "inevitable" if the Islamic State and the al-Nusra Front (Hayat Tahrir al-Sham) stay in the city.

Abu Ara told SMART that Russia, the Syrian government and Iran are planning to change the military situation in Southern Syria. He warned that this will increase disintegration and turmoil in the region.

Abu Ara stated that there is no contact with the Russian side. He noted that the eased escalation agreement was concluded in Jordan.

The spokesman of the FSA faction Jaysh al-Thawra, Abu Bakr al-Hassan, said that the Russian statements were a "psychological war." Meanwhile, the bases of Russia, Iran, the Syrian government and the Lebanese Hezbollah militia were exposed to Israeli bombings.

Al-Hassan confirmed that the contact between the FSA factions and the Syrian government forces has remained unchanged for months. He indicated that the FSA is ready for any attack.

A week ago, a military source told SMART that Russia informed the opposition factions' delegation to the Astana 9 talks that the Syrian government will stop all military actions in Daraa.
