Daraa - SMART

On Saturday, dozens of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) factions, working in the Southern Front, formed a new faction, "the Rescue Army. The Rescue Army will operate in the Daraa and al-Quneitra governorates.

Muhammad al-Khaled, the Rescue Army commander, reported that this formation followed developments in the area, as the loyalist forces and Russia recently attacked Southern Syria and breached the de-escalation agreement. Al-Khaled added that the Army includes factions from Daraa and al-Quneitra, in addition to a military commission that contains several officers to lead the military plans and operations.

The Rescue Army promised to protect the principles of the Syrian Revolution and to commit to the political process that will guarantee a diplomatic solution in Syria. The Army also pledged to protect citizens and save their rights and dignity.

The formation includes the troupes of Ahrar Nawa that includes six factions, Jamil Abu al-Zein that contains seven factions, al-Maghawir al-Khasa (formally Seif al-Janub) that contains four factions, and Abnaa al-Golan that consists of 14 wings.

Three weeks earlier, other FSA factions announced their merger to form the Borkan al-Hara Coalition, while three legions of the Ahrar al-Hara troupe merged to reorganize the toupe and ensure security.
