Homs - SMART

About 20 internally displaced children from Northern Homs were poisoned in the village of Um Rotha of the Jarabulus city, 102 kilometers east of Aleppo, Northern Syria.

Muhammad al-Hussein, a displaced man from Northern Homs, said that they transported 14 poisoned children to a hospital in Jarabulus, but they came back to the camp, as a specialized doctor was not available at the hospital. The IDPs reside in hangars that were used as stables.

Al-Hussein added that polluted water poisoned the children amidst a lack of medicine and malnutrition, in addition to overpopulation, as 35 families live in each hangar.

A displaced man said that humanitarian and relief organizations abandoned them and did not offer food support, adding that IDPs need medicine and baby formula as the camp include about 100 children.

Um Khaled, a displaced woman transported her two children to medical centers after they got diarrhea. She said that she did not receive any response from concerned parties.

Thousands of IDPs left the cities and towns of Northern Homs and Southern Hama and arrived in Northern Syria. The IDPs were evacuated after two agreed that Russia concluded with the Free Syrian Army and the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in the area.
