Al-Hasakah - SMART

On Monday, a member of the Agriculture Authority in the Kurdish Autonomy Administration, Ahmed Habib, said that they would allocate 16 centers to receive wheat from farmers in al-Hasakah, Northeastern Syria.

Ahmed Habib told SMART that they had set the price of buying a kilo of wheat from the farms at 175 Syrian pounds. He stated that they are planning to hire about 300,000 tons.

Farmers in the governorate suffered from high prices and poor quality of pesticides, which enter the province through smuggling routes and lack of bail. The farmers also suffered from drought and lack of rain during the season, which led dozens of farmers to turn wheat fields to pastures for livestock.
