Daraa - SMART

On Monday, a member of the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army, which is accused of allegiance to the Islamic State, killed a Free Syrian Army (FSA) commander during a clash in Daraa, Southern Syria.

Clashes took place between a group of fighters of the Martyr Ahmed Awad Brigade of the FSA and a member of the Khalid Army. The group discovered the Khalid Army member while trying to infiltrate farmland on the road between the city of Nawa and the town of Sheikh Saad.

Military sources told SMART that the Khalid Army member, who was carrying bombs, was killed after he set fire to a field, killed an Awad Brigade commander and injured an Awad Brigade fighter.

SMART saw a picture of fields on fire where the clash took place; the fires were started by the firing from the nearby Khalid Army sites.

The sources speculated that the Khalid Army member was intended to reach the areas controlled by the FSA to smuggle ISIS members who newly arrived from the district of a-Hajar al-Aswad in Damascus, and transfer them to the areas controlled by the Khalid Army in the area of Yarmouk.

Hours ago, the FSA arrested a fourth ISIS group while attempting to enter Daraa governorate from Damascus.
