Hama - SMART

The Syrian government forces arrested 23 people while attempting to crossing from the government-controlled areas in Western Hama, Central Syria to Idlib.

The media activist, Iyad Abou el-Joud, reported that the Military Security militia arrested the men while crossing from the village of Qabr Fidda, Sahl al-Ghab, Western Hama, to Idlib. They were arrested after they went into a minefield in the town of al-Karim.

Abou el-Joud affirmed that ten people could arrive in Idlib. A landmine exploded while they were crossing the field and injured some of them severely.

Smuggling from the government-controlled areas into Idlib is widely active. The government checkpoints in Sahl al-Ghab facilitates the smuggling process in exchange for money that could reach 300,000 SYP.
