Idlib - SMART

The local council of the at-Tamaniah town, 77 kilometers southeast of Idlib, Northern Syria, called on humanitarian organizations to support and execute service projects in the town, after the people of the town returned to it, following a "seasonal truce" sponsored by Russia and Turkey.

The head of the town's local council reported that Russian and loyalist forces' bombing destroyed 90 percent of the town, adding that 250 families have returned to the town recently.

A statement obtained by SMART said that the Russian and loyalist forces' bombings over seven years forced the people out, destroying the town's infrastructure and causing a decline in all life aspects, as the town does not have bakeries or electricity and water networks.

In this statement, the council said that it reached out to humanitarian organizations and charity associations to look into the town's affairs, without receiving any reply.

The intensified bombing of at-Tamaniah destroyed large areas of the town and caused about 90 percent of its population to displace nearby, more safe farmlands and villages, before reaching a truce agreement.
