Al-Raqqa - SMART

On Wednesday, the Kurdish Autonomous Administration's Asayish forces arrested truck drivers carrying diesel fuel in Northwestern ar-Raqqa, Northern Syria. The drivers violated transportation codes that prevent fuel trucks from entering except for when they belong to the Asayish or are selling fuel in stations.

One of the oil traders told SMART that the Asayish arrested five drivers, beat them, seized 12 trucks, and unloaded their contents into cars belonging to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

An unnamed trader said that a driver was rescued and taken to the hospital in ar-Raqqa city after the Asayish forces beat him.

He added that the trucks were coming from the eastern areas of the al-Hasakah governorate and were heading for ar-Raqqa. The SDF stopped the trucks in the village of Mazraat Tishreen, Northwestern ar-Raqqa.

On April 3, the Asayish forces prevented 25 oil trucks from entering in the village of Mazraat Tishreen northwestern ar-Raqqa for the same reason.

On March 24, trucks loaded with oil crossed from areas controlled by the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in the town of al-Tabaqa in the ar-Raqqa governorate to the areas controlled by the Syrian government. A trader told SMART that the YPG provided the Syrian government with the equivalent of 40 thousand barrels of fuel per day.
