On Thursday, five civilians were killed and wounded by a landmine exploded from the remnants of the Islamic State in the city of al-Raqqa, Northeast Syria.

A local source told SMART that a civilian was killed and four others were injured in a mine exploded between the city's old and new bridges. The Initial Response Team of the Civil Council in al-Raqqa relieved the wounded civilians to the Modern Medicine Hospital.

On May 17, a landmine exploded in the village of Rafiqah in Western al-Raqqa, killing two civilians.

In early Jan. activists were documented the killing of 155 civilians, including 20 women and 15 children, in the city of al-Raqqa by the landmines explosions, which were planted by the Islamic State since the Syrian Democratic Forces controlled the town. The engineering teams of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration have removed 7300 mines from the remnants of the Islamic State.
