Al-Hasakah - SMART

A women's organization holds an exhibition of Kurdish heritage and folklore in the city of al-Qamishli, al-Hasakah, Northeastern Syria.

On Sunday, the women's organization in the Kurdish Democratic Progressive Party in Syria held a folklore exhibition where they presented antique tools of Kurdish heritage used by Kurds in their daily lives. The exhibition will continue until tomorrow.

Rouhan Qutti from the city of Ain al-Arab (Kobani) told SMART that she participated in the exhibition in showing some of the hand tools that were used in the wool and textile industries generations ago.

Qutti added that they also showed kitchen utensils used by their grandparents in the Kobani area, and other traditional tools used in bedrooms, sitting rooms, and courtyards, such as cots, copper utensils, weapons, and more.

Qutti continued, "The exhibition is important for this generation to know what tools their grandparents used and how they lived their daily lives."

In May, the Culture and Art Authority of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration organized the third annual exhibition of visual art in the city of al-Qamishli.
