Deir ez-Zor - SMART

250 children from al-Bukamal and al-Mayadin, Deir ez-Zor, Eastern Syria, joined Iranian schools to learn Farsi, according to local activists.

Ameen Allawi, an activist, reported that the children are aged between eight and 15 years old, and that Iran opened three schools in al-Bukamal and one in al-Mayadin, with Iranian staff members.

Allawi added that the schools give the children 10,000 Syrian Pounds as a monthly salary. He said that the administration is using money as a temptation for children to join the schools. The administration issued a grant for every child who can learn Farsi quickly, according to Allawi.

The al-Quds Brigade Iranian militia opened an enrollment office in al-Mayadin (45 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor). Dozens of men joined the militia because of their poor living conditions.

Iranian militia, such as the Revolutionary Guard, al-Quds Brigade and Fatemiyoun brigade support the Syrian Government forces. Dozens of militia fighters were killed in battles in different parts of Syria.
