Hama - SMART

On Saturday night, the Syrian government forces intensified shelling on the villages and towns north of Hama, Central Syria, after four days of relative calm in the region.

Local activists told SMART that the Syrian government forces shelled the city of Lataminah using about 60 heavy artillery shells, in the town of Kafr Zayta and the village of Zakat, using about 40 shells from their bases in the cities of Halfaya, Sikilbiya and Souran. No casualties were reported.

This comes after the Jaysh al-Izza of the Free Syrian Army killed officers and members of the Syrian government forces, including members of the Iranian militias, in the village of Masasna, north of Hama.

On June 1, local activists documented that last May, the Syrian government forces and Russia shelled the town of Lataminah, through 24 raids and 1,200 shells, including 22 phosphorous bombs, killing three civilians and injuring eight others, including four children.
