Al-Raqqa, SMART

On Sunday, the al-Halisat tribe in the city of al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria, called upon the International Coalition to demand the release of tribe members currently held prisoner by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The al-Halisat tribe reported that the SDF arrested eight of their members following a quarrel with members of the al-Raqqa civil council in an industrial area of the city. The arrested members were protesting organizational issues.

The members of the tribe added that a member of the civil council accused the protesters of being members of the Islamic State. The tribe members noted that an SDF fighter was injured while trying to break up the protest.

The tribe members added, "We call upon the International Coalition to put pressure on the SDF to release the prisoners at once. (We want them to) start a neutral investigation of the reasons behind the quarrel and punish those responsible for it. We hold the International Coalition responsible for the consequences of the quarrel, which the forces of the status quo exploited to achieve political aims."

Days ago, a dispute broke out between the SDF and the al-Raqqa Martyrs’ Brigade, and a curfew followed the dispute. The two sides reached an agreement to hand over a commander of the al-Raqqa Martyr’s Brigade and members of his battalion along with their weapons.
