Al-Raqqa - SMART

On Monday, the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) arrested 16 young people from villages northwest of al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria, after the end of a 48-hour curfew in all of the al-Raqqa governorate.

Earlier today, the al-Raqqa civil council announced the end of the 48-hour curfew, which covered all of the al-Raqqa govenorate with the exception of a main road north of the city center of al-Raqqa leading to the village of al-Kalatiya (30 kilometers north of al-Raqqa).

Local sources told SMART that the YPG's intelligence forces arrested 16 young people from the villages of Adnanieh, al-Rafqa and Ansar on charges of "forming groups loyal to the Syrian government forces." Most of the people who were arrested are from the Halisat tribe.

A state of emergency and curfew was imposed in the governorate of al-Raqqa after the YPG's Asayish forces released information about Islamic State members infiltrating the region.
