Hama - SMART

The intense, almost constant Syrian Government bombing affected the civilians and farmers movement in al-Lataminah, Hama, Central Syria.

The Head of the Local Council of al-Lataminah, Hussam al-Hassan, stated that the residents were forced to buy goods from the nearby markets in Kafr Zita and Khan Sheikhoun, out of fear of reconnaissance planes targeting civilians.

Al-Hassan added that the Syrian government bombs the farmlands directly and monitors the farmers and their crops. He pointed out that they warned farmers from harvesting the crops now.

He added that the families face difficulties in securing water. The Syrian government targets the water trucks that transfer well-water to houses.

The Syrian government has escalated military operations since May, accompanied by a relative calm for days. The operations killed, injured and displaced civilians.

Local activists documented that the Syrian government and Russia have targeted al-Lataminah with 24 airstrikes and 1,200 shells, including 22 phosphorous bombs, during May.
