Al-Hasakah - SMART

The Syriac Military Council gained control of a village in the Tal Tamr district, 39 kilometers east of al-Hasakah, Northeastern Syria. The village was controlled by the al-Natour security forces, which include Assyrians. Both parties are affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

A source, who preferred not to be named, reported that the Syriac council wanted to establish a training camp in the village of Tal Jazeera. The two parties' leaders are solving the issue and evacuating the fighters from the village. He pointed out that the situation is becoming calmer.

The council pointed out that the Assyrian residents of the villages refuse any military presence there. They demand that all the armed people leave their villages near the al-Khabour River.

Islamic State attacks have led thousands of Assyrian residents of Tal Tamt to leave since 2015. Local officials have been calling upon the residents to return.
