Turkey - SMART

On Wednesday, the United Nations said that it feared a full-scale battle in Southwestern Syria and repeated scenario of Eastern Ghouta and Aleppo.

The U.N. said that the battles, Southwestern Syria, "may affect the people of the region and have the same impact of the confrontations that took place in Eastern Ghouta and Aleppo," according to Reuters.

The U.N. envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura, told the UN Security Council that "a battle like this could undermine the limited progress achieved in international political talks, which focus on efforts to form a constitutional committee ... and perhaps increase tension with Israel."

The loyalist forces, the militias supporting them and Russia, launched two campaigns against  Aleppo and Eastern Ghouta, which were controlled by the Free Syrian Army factions and Islamic Battalions. The campaigns killed and wounded thousands of civilians, and destroyed infrastructure, where they tended to reach agreements of displacement of those who wanted to leave and factions and battalions from the two regions to Northern Syria.

Since days, the loyalist forces have been launching military operations in eastern and northern areas of Daraa. They managed to seize control of the villages of al-Shomra and al-Shiyah, and the towns of Malihah al-Atash and parts of Basr al-Harir, amid intense air and artillery, killing and wounding dozens of civilians. Many hospitals have also shut down.
