Daraa - SMART

On Saturday, Russia and the Free Syrian Army finished the first round of the negotiations in the city of Busra al-Sham, 40 kilometers east of Daraa, Southern Syria. The negotiations ended without any result.

General Hussam Jibawi, the spokesman of the central operations room in Southern Syria, reported that the Russian forces insisted on their conditions, which are "humiliating". The FSA delegation refused those conditions.

Jibawi added that there are efforts to hold another round amidst developments in the field. The new round will serve "revolutionary negotiations."

Jibawi did not clarified the conditions that Russia proposed and the demands of the FSA delegation.

On Thursday, Russia gave a 12-hours truce for the FSA factions and Islamic battalions in Daraa to accept the Russian demands that included raising the Syrian government flag and settling the fighters' situations.

Over the past 13 days, the Syrian government forces have launched a military campaign on Eastern Daraa and Western al-Suwayda, which are included in a de-escalation area. The Syrian government intensified the bombings, the missile, and artillery shelling on the area, killing and injuring dozens of civilians, including women and children. The bombings destroyed 40 percent of al-Harak city and 60 percent of al-Maliha al-Sharqiya towns, and displaced tens of thousands of civilians.
