Daraa - SMART

On Wednesday, the Khalid Ibn al-Walid Army, which is accused of pledging allegiance to the Islamic State, attacked the Free Syrian Army (FSA)-controlled village of Heit, Daraa, near the Syrian-Jordanian border, while Syrian government warplanes bombed nearby Khalid Ibn al-Walid Army bases.

A military source from the FSA said that the Khalid Ibn al-Walid Army attacked the village from several fronts and bombed it using heavy weapons, gaining control of the nearby Yabla hill. The source added that clashes continue in the area.

The source also said that the FSA destroyed a Khalid Ibn al-Walid Army armored vehicle and a personnel carrier equipped with a heavy machine gun. The destruction killed several fighters.

The Khalid Ibn al-Walid Army attack coincided with air raids by Syrian government warplanes and helicopters on the Khalid Ibn al-Walid Army-controlled villages of Sahm al-Golan and Jillin, near the village of Heit.

Two days earlier, the Khalid Ibn al-Walid Army attempted to attack the Heit village, but the FSA blocked the attack.

On Tuesday, the Khalid Ibn al-Walid Army targeted the Zeizoun military company located near Heit with a car bomb, killing 20 people, including civilians, FSA and Syrian government forces fighters.
