 Al-Hasakah - SMART

The Kurdish Autonomous Administration established vocational trainings for students and dropouts to reduce the unemployment in Amouda, al-Hasakah, Northeastern Syria.

The skill trainer in the Youth Development Center of Amouda, who introduced herself as Manal, said that the increase in unemployment led them to establish a center to train the youth to secure their futures. The training includes sewing, forging, home electricity maintenance, plumbing, fridge and washing machine maintenance.

Manal stated that the conceptual training last for three months, followed by practical training in workshops for four months, including feedbacks for the trainee's skills and participation. After the training, the trainees get practical two-month training in the center before receiving a certificate.

Manal pointed out that most of the applicants are males between 16-24 after they noticed the increase in job opportunities for the previous graduates.

The sewing teacher, Saad Ahmad, stated that the center had graduated two classes. The Save, the Children organization, supports the center and sponsors its projects.

The Educational body of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration has launched earlier a training course for secondary school teachers.
