Idlib, SMART

On Friday, forcibly displaced people (FDP) in a recently-constructed residential compound in the village of Kafr Louseen, 36 kilometers north of Idlib, Northern Syria, complained about the water shortage in the area and lack of food aid.

Muhammad, who is an FDP said that the al-Huda relief charity opened a residential compound comprised of 12 buildings that includes 165 apartments, a school, and a dispensary at the cost of 175,000 USD. Muhammad added that the charity housed the FDP in the compound three months ago, but the FDP still suffer from a shortage of water.

Muhammad complained that water tanks are shared, three families per tank, and added that they had not received food aid for two months. He wondered about the benefit of providing housing that doesn't meet peoples' needs. Muhammad confirmed that the money he earns per day is not enough to cover his family’s needs.

An FDP, who introduced himself as Abu Muhammad expressed his happiness at having his housing provided for one and a half years; however, Abu Muhammad demanded necessary food aid and water.

The compound shelters 500 forcibly displaced families from Aleppo and Eastern Ghouta.

The al-Huda relief group is a charity that implements service, development, education, and social projects in areas outside of the Syrian government forces’ control in Northern Syria.

Earlier, 1,200 forcibly displaced families from Eastern Ghouta settled in temporary shelters in Kafr Loseen. The families evacuated Ghouta following an agreement between the Free Syrian Army and Russia.

FDP in camps in Northern Syria complains about the lack of services like toilets, bathrooms, tents, food aid, heating, education for children, and water.
