Quneitra - SMART

On Tuesday, suspected Syrian government airstrikes killed more than 13 civilians, most of them women and children, and injured dozens of others in villages on the administrative border of the Quneitra and Daraa governorates, Southern Syria.

Local activists told SMART that Syrian government warplanes bombed a school in the village of Ain al-Tinah, Quneitra. The school was sheltering forcibly displaced people from the neighboring governorate of Daraa. The bombing killed eight children and two women and injured dozens of civilians.

The activists added that Syrian government's airstrikes killed a child, his mother, and father in the village of al-Aalia, west of Daraa, and adjacent to Quneitra.

An administrative official at the hospital in the town of Rafid in Quneitra said that so far they have received more than 30 wounded, including serious injuries, as a result of intense bombing from the Syrian government forces. There is lack of medicine in the hospital.

In the past two days, the Syrian government has intensified the shelling on towns and villages on the administrative border between the two governorates of Daraa and Quneitra. The shelling coincided with a military operation by the Syrian government forces to advance as the Free Syrian Army and Islamic battalions try to defeat it.
