Aleppo, SMART

Three hundred women and children per day benefit from a medical center opened by the local council of al-Bab city, 39 kilometers east of Aleppo, Northern Syria.

On Monday, Abdullah al-Ragheb, the medical official at the center said that they opened the center days ago, and that it includes clinics for women and children. Al-Ragheb added that between 200-300 women and children benefit from the center, which is named al-Farabi.

Al-Ragheb added that they opened the center in cooperation with the Syrian Expatriates Medical Association, and located it in central al-Bab so that it receives as many patients as possible. Al-Ragheb noted that the center would both lessen the burden on people and lessen the work pressure on the city's al-Hikma hospital.

Al-Ragheb said that al-Bab records slow medical recovery times as the city still needs much support and many medical facilities. The city's residents also suffer from the spread of leishmania, and have low availability of important medications.

The al-Farabi Center supervises the medical situation and monitors pharmacies to prevent them from selling expired medicines or  ones containing polluted materials that include cancerous impurities and cause diseases.

Local councils in cooperation with humanitarian organizations open medical centers and mobile clinics in areas outside of the Syrian government forces’ control in Northern Syria to provide medical services in accordance to available possibilities.
