The commander of the US special forces, General Jimmy Gerrard, said the international coalition against the Islamic state (IS) plans to increase military and logistical support to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northeastern Syria.

On Tuesday a delegation of the coalition led by Gerard visited the city of Manbij (80 kilometers east of Aleppo), Northern Syria, controlled by the SDF, according to a statement by the democratic civil administration in the city.

The democratic civil administration, confirmed that "the coalition plans to increase support shortly, and also increase the number of advisers to achieve security and stability in the liberated areas."

The delegation met the civil administration and discussed the political and military developments in northeast Syria and the city of Manbij in particular. Gerrard promised to continue these visits in the future and called on European countries to come to the city and to see "stability on the ground," according to the statement.

This comes two weeks after another coalition delegation visited the city, including military leaders and two US senators.

Turkey and the United States of America, which leads the coalition, have reached a "road map" agreement on Manbij, which removes the Kurdish People's Protection Units and hand over their administration to local bodies.
