Hayat Tahrir al-Sham arrests people in Idlib under accusation of being Islamic State members

On Wednesday, the opposition faction Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) raided outposts in Maar Shoureen village, 18 kilometers south of Idlib, Northern Syria, arresting people as part of a security campaign against Islamic State (ISIS) groups.

A local activist reported that the HTS fighters' security battalion raided outposts in the village and arrested ten people it accused of being ISIS members.

The activist added that four HTS vehicles raided the village, including two pick up vehicles provide with 14.5 mm guns as well as two vans to transport the arrested people.

On Friday, the HTS launched a security campaign against ISIS groups in Northern and Western Idlib. The HTS established intensified checkpoints on the Idlib-Darkoush road, blocked the Idlib-Salqin road, and raided the village of Hafsarjih and agricultural forests in the al-Rouj plain area.

Car bomb explosions are common in the Idlib governorate in Northern Syria, and often target military commanders and Free Syrian Army fighter, as well as civilians. The explosions have killed and injured dozens of fighters, commanders, and civilians.  The perpetrators of these attacks remain unknown.
