Idlib - SMART

The Salvation Government issued a circular warning against approaching the towns of Kafraya and al-Foah, five kilometers north of Idlib, Northern Syria, until Syrian government-planted landmines were removed from the area. The Syrian government forces planted the landmines before they implemented an agreement with the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.

The Salvation Government stated that it warns the residents of the neighboring villages and towns against approaching Kafraya and al-Foah, and will not be held accountable for those who do. The residents will be allowed to enter the towns after the engineering teams remove the landmines and explosive devices.

Earlier on Wednesday, 120 buses entered Kafraya and al-Foah to evacuate the residents and fighters, under an agreement between the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and Iran. About 6,900 people, including civilians and fighters, will leave the towns.

The Salvation Government was established in October 2017. A founding committee was created during the General Syrian Conference. The Salvation Government runs civil affairs in the HTS-controlled areas.
