Hama - SMART

The loyalist forces stopped several funeral ceremonies for detainees who were tortured to death in Syrian government prisons in Hama city, Central Syria.

Civilian sources who preferred to remain anonymous for security reasons reported that loyalist security forces stormed more than five funeral homes, forcing the detainees' relatives to end the ceremonies under the threat of detention.

The same sources expressed their anger towards the loyalist forces' actions.

The sources added that when members of the loyalist forces are killed in clashes with the Free Syrian Army, the loyalist militias commemorate the fighters' deaths with random shootings across the city.

Earlier, a state of grief and anger prevailed in the city of Hama, as mothers received the ID papers of their sons who were tortured to death.

The loyalist forces sent the names of the 120 detainees tortured to death to the civil registry offices in Hama and told the detainees' relatives that they died of heart attacks.
