Quneitra - SMART

On Sunday, the Islamic State (IS) seized five new villages in the Quneitra governorate, Southern Syria.

The IS said in a statement on social media that their fighters seized the villages of Sayda (al-Golan), al-Hanout, Ain al-Qadi, Umm al-Louqas, and al-Hayran after the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) withdrew from the villages. The IS noted that their fighters seized weapons and ammunition.

The IS added that their fighters repelled a Syrian government forces’ attempt to advance towards the village of Ghadeer al-Bustan, which the IS seized on Saturday.

The IS entered the adjacent villages of al-Ma’laqa, al-Jubailiya, and Ghadeer al-Bustan, which are controlled by the HTS and FSA in Quneitra.

The FSA and Russia reached an agreement that included a ceasefire starting on Thursday morning and lasting for an "unspecified duration," and a settlement on the fate of those who decided to stay in Quneitra, which includes a general amnesty and not to prosecute civilians, defected soldiers or officers and civilians.
