Israeli Army brings down Syrian government forces' warplane over Golan Heights

On Tuesday, Israeli Army brought down a Syrian government forces’ warplane that violated Israeli air space over the occupied Golan Heights.

Avichay Adraee, the spokesperson for the Israeli Army said that the Israeli Army launched two Patriot missiles against a Syrian government forces’ Su- warplane that violated the Golan Heights' air space by a distance of 2 kilometers. Adraee added that the warplane fell down in Syrian territories.

Russian Sputnik news agency reported a Syrian government forces’ military source confirming the killing of Captain pilot Omran Mur’i; however, the other pilot’s fate is still unknown.

The Syrian government's media outlets confirmed that the Israeli Army targeted a Syrian government forces’ warplane that was bombing the al-Yarmouk basin area in Daraa, Southern Syria.

On July 1, 2018, Israel sent military reinforcements, including armored and artillery troops to the occupied Golan Heights. The reinforcements coincided with a Russian and Syrian government military campaign against the Free Syrian Army, the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and the Islamic State.
