Al-Suwayda - SMART

Locals and fighters found four women alive, hiding in a cave in the village of Shbeki, 25 kilometers east of al-Suwayda, Southern Syria. The women hid in the cave after the Islamic State attacked their village.

Local activists said that the locals and fighters started to sweep the village and its perimeters after blocking the IS' attack. The locals found the bodies of two women.

The activists added that the locals also found four women hiding in a cave in the perimeter of Shbeki. The women escaped after IS attack. Other sources said that the IS kidnapped the four women, but they managed to escape and hide in the cave.

The locals also found the bodies of six IS members and arrested one member alive. The battles on Wednesday killed around 40 IS members, according to local sources.

Earlier, locals from the village posted the names of 40 people, including children and women, who were lost during the battles. The locals assumed that the IS might kidnap those 40 people.

On Thursday night, the Syrian government forces sent a military convoy to the Eastern al-Suwayda countryside. The convoy included dozens of heavy armored vehicles. The convoy arrived 36 hours after the battle ended.

The IS attacked the villages of the Eastern al-Suwayda countryside, killing more than 200 people and injuring others.
