Daraa - SMART

The Syrian Government seized the village of Jamla and bases of the Khalid Ibn al-Walid Army, which is accused of pledging allegiance to the Islamic State, in the al-Yarmouk basin, Daraa, Southern Syria.

Local activists reported that the Syrian government seized the villages of Jamla, al-Awad and Abu Khirj in the al-Yarmouk basin, after clashing with the Khalid Ibn al-Walid Army and launching airstrikes on the area.

The activists added that suspected Russian warplanes targeted the town of Maaraba, Beit Ara and Koya, near the occupied Golan Heights. They added that the town of al-Shajra was targeted with what were likely incendiary substances like napalm and phosphor.

On Friday, the Syrian government seized the villages and towns of Tasil, Hit, Jallin, Sahm al-Jolan and Adwan, in addition to the hills of al-Jumou and Ashtara, after the Khalid Ibn al-Walid Army withdrew. On Wednesday night, the Syrian government seized the village of Ain Zakar, Daraa after similar clashes.

The Syrian government launched a military campaign against IS-controlled areas in the al-Yarmouk basin, after conducting individual reconciliations with the Free Syrian Army and Islamic factions in the areas outside of Syrian government control.
