Al-Raqqa - SMART

On Monday, a Syrian government committee transported bodies of loyalist forces' members from the town of Ayn Issa, Northern al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria, in coordination with the Kurdish Autonomous Administration (Rojava).

A source from the Rojava's Ayn Issa municipality reported that a Syrian government committee consisting of 13 members entered the town to transport the bodies of 75 loyalist forces members killed earlier by the Islamic State (IS).

The source, who preferred to stay anonymous, said that the Syrian government will continue the transport of the bodies the next day, Tuesday, adding that Syrian government forces' security members and Rojava security and military forces escorted the committee to the town.

The source added that the Kurdish Red Crescent and the Ayn Issa municipality supervised the bodies' transportation. Several members of the Syrian government committee returned to Syrian government-controlled areas, as other committee members stayed at the headquarters of the General Command of Internal Security Forces in al-Tabqah city, Western al-Raqqa.

Days earlier, the municipality of Ayn Issa found four mass graves containing bodies of loyalist forces' members and their families near the town, all killed by the IS about four years earlier.
