Al-Suwayda - SMART

Dozens of families fled their villages in Northwestern al-Suwayda, fearing possible attacks by the Islamic State (ISIS).

Civil sources reported that dozens of families fled from the villages of al-Sawarah al-Saghirah, al-Sawarah al-Kabirah, Lahthah, al-motounah, al-Suweimrah, and Zakir, and headed for the city of al-Suwayda, as the families' houses lied near the al-Lajat area, Western al-Suwayda, which is inhabited by several ISIS groups.

The sources said that groups of people in the villages near the ISIS areas in Western and Eastern al-Suwayda organized guarding patrols and installed search checkpoints, amidst an absence of the loyalist forces in the area.

According to loyalist media outlets, loyalist forces' warplanes targeted ISIS locations in Eastern al-Suwayda.

Days earlier, groups of ISIS elements carried out a "surprise" attack in the city of al-Suwayda and seven of its eastern villages early in the morning, killing more than 200 civilians and injuring dozens more, amidst a total absence of the Syrian government forces.
