Daraa, SMART

On Monday, the Syrian government fired all the staff at the bakery of Nawa city, 25 kilometers northwest of Daraa, Southern Syria.

A source reported that the bakery includes 30 employees, who the Syrian Interim Government employed before the Syrian government forces seized the city.

The source noted that each employee received 80,000 Syrian Pounds (SYP) as compensation by a local initiative named Faz’it (support) Nawa. The source added that the compensation was from the fund of the bakery.

The source added that the Syrian government assigned a new manager for the bakery and reinstated all staff members who used to run the bakery before the Free Syrian Army (FSA) controlled the city. The source noted that the Syrian government priced 1,400 grams of bread at 50 SYP.

Earlier, the local administration of Daraa increased the prices of bread per kilo by 125 SYP, in all bakeries in areas controlled by the FSA in Daraa. This occurred after organizations suspended the provision of flour.
