Aleppo - SMART

People protested in the town of Kaf Noran, Western Aleppo, Northern Syria, in solidarity with the detainees in the Syrian government prisons.

The local council of the town called for the protest. Around 40 people participated in the protest, including Revolutionary Body members. The protesters raised signs saying, “do not forget the detainees as the Eid al-Adha approaches, their mothers are waiting for them.”

Mashhour al-Muhammad, a member of the local council, stated that the detainees have been suffering for years from torturing and bad treatment. More than 25 detainees are from the village, three of which died under torture.

On Friday, people protested in the town of Sandara, Azaz, Aleppo, against the Syrian government violations against the detainees.

In July, the Syrian government started revealing the fate of some detainees. The government either delivered lists to the Civil Records departments or called the relatives through the Military Police, to pick up the dead detainee’s papers.
