The media office of the Free Police, who introduced himself as Mahmoud Abu al-Majd, reported that volunteers of the Free Police found the bomb that unknown shooters planted on the road. Abu al-Majd added that as explosives experts arrived to detonate the bomb, it went off, injuring Ahmad al-Mansour, the head of the Atareb police station along with another volunteer. Al-Mansour and the other volunteer received minor injuries and were transported to a hospital in the area.

On July 13, 2018, unknown shooters planted a bomb near the village of Batapo, west of Aleppo, Northern Syria, injuring two volunteers of the Free Police.

Explosions are common in areas outside of the Syrian government forces’ control, Northern Syria. The explosions kill and injure dozens of civilians as well as fighters and military commanders in the Free Syrian Army (FSA). The FSA accuse groups that belong to the Syrian government or Islamic State of plotting the explosions.
