Quneitra - SMART

On Wednesday, the Furkan Brigades faction of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) left the villages of Breqa and Bir al-Ajm, 11 kilometers south of Quneitra, Southern Syria, to the towns of western Rif Dimashq.

Pro-Syrian government media said that they reached an agreement with the Furkan Brigades  to hand over their heavy weapons before leaving the villages, without specifying which towns and villages they would move to in western Damascus.

SMART tried to communicate with the Furkan Brigades to learn the terms of their exit agreement, its reasons, and which towns and villages they would be transferred to, without obtaining the information.

The Syrian government media reported that the people of the villages Breqa and Bir al-Ajm started to return as soon as the Furkan Brigades left.

A few days ago, the Circassian Association issued a statement saying that they would refuse the return of civilians to the two villages, where Circassian people are the majority, if there are any armed factions except for the Syrian government forces.

On July 23, the Syrian government forces seized seven villages in the governorate of Quneitra, including Ghadir al-Bustan, after the Islamic State withdrew.
